My name is Samantha Legierse, but most people call me Sem. I’ve lived in the Netherlands since day one, yet I’ve embraced the world as my home. Over the years, I’ve shaped myself into a global citizen - bringing my lived experiences to new places, uncovering exciting opportunities, and inspiring positive change. All of this is driven by my personal mission: to leave the world better than I found it.

Since graduation, and to date, I continuously expand my expertise through technical and professional development programs - ranging from SDG education to business innovation, marketing, and people coaching.

Building on early career foundations as a Trendwatcher, Marketing Executive, Concept Manager, and VM Trainer, I began working over a decade ago as a Sustainability Product Owner. In that role, I led cross-functional collaborations with global fashion houses and European sales locations - working closely with top management, production, and marketing teams to bring sustainable products to market.

In 2016, I began offering SDG Consultancy and Technical Assistance to renowned iconic brands in collaboration with the UN Fashion Alliance and MINO, contributing to the flagship UN SDG 9 Fashion Industry Innovation Program. I introduced luxury African hand-crafted seasonal product lines and interactive marketing campaigns to both the UN stage and the European fashion scene.

Over time, I moved beyond the fashion sector, expanding my scope through multi-stakeholder networks to deepen and diversify my SDG expertise.

Today, I provide multi-sector SDG Consultancy and SDG Technical Assistance, and SDG Reporting to global businesses, deliver SDG products and services to Sub-Saharan African impact zones of all types, and engage with UN institutions around the world - pioneering bold, new approaches to sustainable development.

Over the past 15 years, I’ve built a strong foundation in how I join teams, inspire the work, and help define it. To me, collaboration goes far beyond simply working together. It’s about engaging in passionate, productive debate - advocating bold ideas, challenging perspectives, and building on each other’s thinking to reach the smartest, most impactful outcome.

I believe innovation is led by those who know their stuff and are constantly on top of the latest trends, resources and best practices. In vibrant feminine style and with a positive 'yes-we-can attitude', I take the room to pitch bold yet informed ideas that spark great breakthroughs. That’s why clients entitle me often as the ’agent of change'.

Further, I have what it takes to go as far as I want with ideas - no concept is too ambitious. My creations are grounded in sky-high standards and made with revolutionary precision to perform exactly as promised.

I never sit still - and never operate on just one level. In the race to meet SDG targets within a fast-moving global business landscape, I embrace my leadership role as a socially responsible corporate citizen. That means one hour, I’m in a high-level board meeting. The next, I’m rolling up my sleeves for a community field mission. Then - yes, sometimes literally - I’m gliding across the marketing department on an office chair, rallying creatives like a woman on a mission, connecting the insights from every kind of brilliant, from every level across different areas of expertise; seamlessly connecting the dots to drive impact.

Halfway to 2030, the world is not on track to achieve the SDGs. To accelerate progress, everyone needs to rethink, refocus, and recharge. La Semme's contribution to speed up SDG progress from within is to continue moving capacity building forward. Working closely with educators and professionals, especially those of the UN, that provide resources, including curricula, mentorship, technology and tools, to continuously invest in my professional success and get the 2030 Agenda done!
